Today, Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) are expected to reach a consensus on issues discussed and passed onto them by senior officials who met from the 30th April to 1st May 2024.
The foreign ministers indoor meeting started yesterday which is chaired by Mamadou Tangara, Gambia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad.
If the ministers reached an agreement today, it will be passed onto the Presidents, Kings, Prime Ministers and Sultans from the 57 member states of OIC who are to meet on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th May 2024.
The indoor meeting between the OIC permanent secretaries and ambassadors was said to be a burning debate about issues of the ummah and lasted throughout the night.
This is the 15th edition of the Islamic Summit of Heads of state and Governments of the Organisation. The theme is ‘Enhancing Unity and Solidarity Through Dialogue for Sustainable Development.’
The main objective of OIC is to strengthen cooperation and solidarity between the member states, to protect the rights and interest of the Islamic world.
