OIC Banjul Summit Commence Preliminary Meetings

Preliminary meetings of permanent secretaries and ambassadors of member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) started in earnest in country on Tuesday 30th April 2024. 

The two day meeting of these senior officials representing their Governments is to discuss and share ideas on pressing issues ahead of the 15th Summit which will be hosted by The Gambia. The meeting will culminate in an agreement that will be forwarded to the Council of Foreign Ministers of these countries, which is scheduled to hold another two day meeting, before the final meeting of Presidents, Kings, Prime Ministers and Sultans of the 57 member states of OIC.

The theme for this year’s Summit is: ‘Enhancing Unity and Solidarity through Dialogue for Sustainable Development’.

For the information of the readership, the main objective of the OIC is to strengthen cooperation and solidarity among member states for the protection of the rights and interest of the Islamic world.
