NOC gives backing to Volleyball

National Olympic Committee president Momodou Dibba has vowed to offerNOC gives backing to Volleyball
support to undertakings by the Gambia Volleyball Federation.
Dibba made these remarks during the volleyball federation’s meeting at
the Olympic bureau’s premises in the presence of the minister of theinterior and the sports ministry’s deputy permanent secretary (DPS).

“I am aware of the progress being made at the volleyball federation
and I am ready to support in all sectors,”Dibba said while wishing well the
country’s beach volleyball team qualification to the Rio Olympics.

The day-long session was part of the Confederation of African
Volleyball (CAVB) first round of inspection of the million dalasi
African Dream Project.

“The beach volleyball team is on the course of the Rio Olympic
qualifications and we are hoping to see the team in Brazil next year.
I assure you the GNOC’s fullest support to the Olympic team and if we
qualified the Gambia beach volleyball team will have the best kits at
the games,” he dwelled on.

Taking turns to speak, the youth and sports DPS,AbdoulieKah, assured
the CAVB inspectors of his department’s backing and frequent
monitoring of the project.
“The Africa Dream Project is a national program and the ministry will
do its best to monitor this project for the benefit of Gambian
kids,”Kah echoed.
Wrapping things up, Interior Minister Ousman Sonko commended volleyball
federation’s efforts to decentralize its tentacles to the provinces
and its commitment to transparency.
“This project, as far as I’m concerned, is one of the most successful
sports development projects in The Gambia and that is the reason why I
took it very important to launch the project last February,” said DPS
Kah.
