Njie Charakh World Market has certified 500 young people on Sunday at the Friendship Hotel in Bakau.

The young men and women were certified after completing three-month training at Njie Charakh School for Basic Training and Entrepreneurship.

The graduates are part of the second and third cohorts of the school.  The second cohort and third cohorts have 250 students each respectively.

Njie Charakh School trains young people especially women in both rural and urban areas on business and entrepreneurship.

Moth Sarr, the CEO of Njie Charakh School, said women need business and entrepreneurship skills in their endeavour.

He added that women also need to access resources and funds to develop their business.

‘Therefore, I urge the government to invest in women,’ he said.

‘Government also needs to help women to have a market to sell their products’ he said.

He said Njie Charakh School has established a poultry farm, tailoring shops, and it is going to open a supermarket to provide jobs for the graduates.

Meanwhile, he advised the graduating students not to be in haste to be successful because success is only achieved through hard work and dedication.

Isatou Jammeh, one of the certified students, said the training would shape their business and entrepreneurship endeavours.

She added that the training has transformed her life through the business she established with the help of the school.

She advised her fellow young entrepreneurs to be patient with their work.

Meanwhile, she called on women leaders to support women businesses across the country.

She said young women entrepreneurs need to be supported to grow their businesses.

Sheikh Ahmed Tijan Charry, the Administrative Secretary, advised the students to ‘embrace opportunities’ and ‘face adversities’ that come their way.

He advised them to work hard with determination and conviction to realise their dreams.

He called on the graduates to cherish their achievements and work harder to achieve more.

Mr Ndunku Badjie, Consultant of Njie Charakh School, said the school would do whatever they can to empower women.

He added that they are complementing the efforts of the government in empowering women.

‘Therefore, the government needs to support Njie Charakh’, he said.
