New Interior Minister Appointed

State House has announced the appointment of Habib Saihou Drammeh as the new Interior Minister of the Gambia with effect from Monday 4thDecember 2017. According to a statement issued by the Presidency, Mr. Drammeh will be sworn in on Wednesday, 6th December 2017, to fully assume the functions of his Ministry. The appointment according to the release is done in accordance with Section 71 (3) of the Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia, which empowers the President to appoint cabinet ministers.

The new minister was the General Manager of The Gambia Transport Service Company (GTSC). He also lectured at the University of the Gambia with a background in Human Resources Management, Strategic Management, Tourism Management and Marketing and Business Feasibility Studies.

It could be recalled that a coalition stakeholder Mr. Mai Ahmad Fatty, was relieved from his position as Minister of Interior in November, without any given reason advanced by the State.
