Hoyuntan has gotten a new opponent in the arena after signing a deal
to take on Police Force’s Yaya Jammeh.
The proposed bout would be the Club Ndongo Ceesay flag-bearer’s first
contest after his much publicized duel with Gambien hit the brick
walls.Club Police Force’s Jammeh enters the duel –with the face-to-face held
yesterday evening at the Wellingara Cinema Hall –on the back of defeat
to Action of club Kololi Mbolloh.
Victory will have him redeemed but against an established Hoyuntan,
considered one of the country’s finest of the traditional, Yaya is
tipped to be in for a cracking showdown. The encounter is being
organised by promoter champion Sound.
Hoyuntan, yet to taste defeat this season, last match was with
Gambien, a proposed encounter that failed to go ahead after fans
stormed the arena.
That grand combat was due to be held after end of the ceremonial
mini-bouts when spectators , and fans distraught with the weak glow
of the hired arena lights , penetrated security lines en mass to get
closer view of the two wrestlers about to square off.
The situation was one of chaos leading to delay of the fight as
organisers attempted without success to negotiate the frenzy crowd
-standing fifteen meters from the sacks – behind the lines. Prior to
this, the rented flood lights had gone off umpteen times in most cases
during other combats referencing poor organisation.
Consequently, what could have been a thrilling grand face-off was
prematurely called off, a thing which left a dozen enthused turned out
of supporters red-faced.]]>
