Clients of the National Water and Electricity Company have decried the poor electricity service in their communities.

Speaking to Foroyaa, Lamin Bass who lives in Bundung said they experience power outage from evening till the following morning and at times for the whole day.

He further said that water supply is a huge problem because taps usually open at odd hours, between 2am and 5am, and whoever does not fetch water at these ungodly hours will not have water till the following day. He appealed to the new government to look into the issue of electricity and water supply as some communities are facing acute water shortage.

Mama Jeng who resides in London Corner also said that Nawec has to look into the issue of electricity. She said food cannot be safely kept in the fridge as they often get spoilt due to frequent and long power outages. She added that there is no schedule in any load shedding and one never knows when electricity may come on or go off.

Ebrima Mendy , a welder at Super Bird complained of irregular electricity supply. He said they have a lot of problems with their clients who always blame them for not completing their work on time.

He remarked, “What we yearn for is regular electricity supply and we are therefore appealing to the government to solve this problem.”

Residents of Tallinding, Churchill Town and Bundung Borehole all echoed similar sentiments. However residents of Tabokoto and some parts of Kololi and Sanchaba indicated that power outages are less severe in their area.
