Njoneh Njie, a resident of Mandinary village, on Wednesday December 5th, walked into the Offices of Foroyaa, desperately seeking assistance to cure her son’s epilepsy.
According to the medical report of the son obtained from the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital the patient Sankung Jobateh, suffers from a long history of epilepsy, from birth.
On examination, the report showed a stable but febrile, no pale, or edema, finger clubbing patient. Regarding his respiration, the medical report indicate that the patient gets adequate air entry bilaterally.
The medical report continued: CVS: S1 S2 heard, no murmur; Abdomen: soft, non-tender; CNS: conscious alert and well oriented, tone flaccid, reflexes were normal; Investigation: CT scan results were Normal.
DIAGNOSIS: Epilepsy
TREATMENT: phenobarbitone 100 mg daily, and carbamazipine 200mg Bd.
Njoneh njie the mother of the patient said there was no treatment in the Gambia, so for this reason they went up to Dakar (Senegal) for treatment and they give them an appointment.
She added that the patients father died the mother have no financial status to send the boy for treatment.
Njoneh is seeking for help from government, private sectors, Ngo’s, stakeholders, for her son to go overseas treatment.
