First Gambian to play in the English Premier League Modou Barrow has
been loaned out by Swansea City.
22-year-old Barrow who recently signed a long-term deal with the Swans joins Nottingham Forest in the English second tier for rest of the on-going campaign.Barrow who was last month in Gambia on a brief breather makes the move
after getting international clearance. The reason behind the
Gambian’s transfer is to acquaint him with the rigours of English
football and get first-team experience.
He’d been partly used at Swansea City whom he signed for on permanent
basis after an initial 3-month loan from Swedish second tier side
Ostersunds FK. His acquisition will beef up Forest in their pursuit of
promotion to the top.
Barrow made his EPL debut against Arsenal coming off the bench.
Meanwhile another Gambian and erstwhile U-17 forward Buba Findi Jammeh
has signed for Pumas, a club in the US Premier Development League and
two-time Western Conference champions.
The PDL is equivalent to the fourth tier and the ex-Steve Biko man’s
third club since leaving the Gambia.
