Mauritanian Football Federation is evaluating hosting Gambia in Senegal for the first-leg of the Gabon 2017 Afcon qualifier.
St –Louis stadium, Northern Senegal, is one of many venues being considered to host the game by Football Federation of Islamic Republic of Mauritania (FFRIMA).
FFRIMA’s boss Ahmed Yahya revealed they are putting to study available options after it emerged the Nouakchott Olympic Stadium wouldn’t be hosting their must-win tie against Gambia owing to ongoing renovations there.
For this dilemma, the FFRIMA is on a venue search and the St-Louis top their agenda considering Senegal is close and less expensive.
Already a lead has been taken to ensure success of the process including writing to the Senegalese government who are understood to be opened to the idea.
Mawade Wade stadium, home of Linguere FC of Saint-Louis and Ndar Guedj FC, recently hosted the WAFU Zone A football Championship, in which The Gambia U-20 played in the finals against hosts Senegal.
