She said she has no affiliation with UDP or any other political party in the Gambia.
“Gender activist Matida Daffeh, has been unanimously selected to lead UDP to better future. She is also the party’s candidate in the December presidential elections. In a press release sent to almost all the media houses in the country, except Daily Observer,” stated ‘What’s on Gambia’ on its website.
The online story further states that “the former party leader Lawyer Darboe congratulated the Brikama-born gender activist. According to Darboe, Matida’s selection to lead the party is a significant development in the country’s political history.”

“The online medium earlier on Wednesday has published about my selection as a UDP candidate. I have no affiliation whatsoever with UDP or any political party in the Gambia. I wish to clear the misinformation. Until then, I remain the fearless feminist who believes in the liberation of women and girls. By the way, I was born and raised in Bulock,” said Ms. Daffeh on her facebook page.
