Marakissa Arrestees to be arraigned in Court Today

Mrs Amie Camara, a resident of Camara Kunda in Marakissa yesterday informed Foroyaa that the police have informed her brothers who were arrested during a police raid in their compound and later released on bail that they will be arraigned in court today.

“This morning all my brothers who were arrested during the police raid at our compound went to report at the Anti-Crime Unit as usual because they are under bail. When they reached there, they were informed that they will be taken to the Brikama Magistrates court today,” she said.

The individuals who were arrested from Marakissa are: Lamin Camara, Ebrima Camara, Dawda Camara, Sherifo Dahaba, Seedy Sambou, Saikou Camara and Hattabou Colley.

Yahya Camara who was the main suspect after the arrest reported himself to the Anti-Crime Unit of the Police Force and was arrested and detained. According to our source, Yahya Camara was also released on bail.

Madam Camara called on the National Human Rights Commission to look into the matter in the interest of justice.  

Readers could recall that 7 people from Marakissa, Kombo North District, were on Thursday 23th May 2024 arrested during police raids in Camara Kunda in Marakissa.

Those arrested alleged that they were assaulted and detained at the Anti-Crime Unit of the Police Force.

Foroyaa visited the scene and found out that three doors and one window were damaged. The residents alleged that the doors and window were damaged by personnel of the Anti-Crime whilst they were raiding their houses.

A bruise was seen on the leg of a one year 9 months old toddler and the mother of the infant alleged that the bruise was caused by the officers during their raid.
