One Gorgie Sowe of Jalambang Village, West Coast Region, recently appeared in the High Court charged with causing serious bodily harm to his wife by using a cutlass to wound her on the hand and legs.
Accused Gorgie Sowe is alleged to have cut his wife with a cutlass on her hand and legs, resulting in serious injuries. When the case was mentioned, State Counsel Fatoumatta Drammeh informed the court that they were still awaiting the police to send the file to the Attorney General’s Chambers.
She explained that the investigation was not yet complete and requested an adjournment.
Justice Ebrima Jaiteh of the High Court granted the application to December 12, 2023, at 11:30 for the state to file the bill of indictment.
The police charge sheet states that Gorgie Sowe is charged under section 212(b) of the criminal code, which pertains to acts of intent that cause grievous harm. The particulars of the offense indicate that on or around November 15, 2023, in Jalanbang Kombo Central, West Coast Region, Gorgie Sowe unlawfully assaulted Amie Sowe with a cutlass on her hands and legs, intending to cause malice, disfigurement, or disability, thereby committing an offense of causing her grievous bodily harm.
