By Mustapha Jallow Following his re-arrest and detention at the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) in Banjul since 9 October, 2014, Mr. Mambury Njie, a former Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, is now detained for 28 days without bail or court appearance. According to a family source, Mr. Njie is being allowed access to his loved ones at the NIA headquarters but that the reason (s) for his detention is not yet known. Efforts to contact the NIA on the issue on several occasions proved futile as the land phone always keeps ringing without any answer. Mr. Njie was earlier acquitted and discharged on two counts of economic crime and neglect of official duty by Justice Mikailu Abdulahi of the Special Criminal Division (SCD) of the high court in Banjul on 3 July 2014. Prior to his arraignment, Mr. Njie was arrested on 25 February 2014 and detained for a long period. ]]>
