Foroyaa has received information from a judicial source that Magistrate Omar Jabang who was arrested and detained on Tuesday, 3 May, has now been released and reinstated to his position in the judiciary.
ASP Lamin Njie, the Police Public Relation Officer (PRO), confirmed to this reporter yesterday the release of the magistrate from police custody and that there is no further investigation on him.
However, efforts to reach the magistrate on phone could not materialise.
Magistrate Jabang’s arrest and subsequent detention came hard on the heels of his decision to acquit and discharge one Yusupha Saidy, a businessman.
However, the reason why the magistrate was arrested and detained at the serious crime unit (SCU) at the police headquarters in Banjul is not known.
