Magistrate Jabang arrested, Dismissed from Judiciary

Magistrate Omar Jabang of the lower court in Banjul was on Tuesday 3rd May 2016 arrested and detained at the serious crime Magistrate Jabangunit at police headquarters in Banjul.

According to judicial sources, Jabang was dismissed from the judiciary following his arrest and detention.

He is one of young magistrates and had presided over numerous cases, including that of Yusupha Saidy who was recently acquitted and discharged after the defence filed a ‘no case to answer’ submission.

Magistrate Jabang was appointed First Class Magistrate in February 2014, shortly after graduating from the University of The Gambia (UTG).

As we go to press, Mr. Jabang is still held at the Banjul police station.
