The Gambian people in particular and all concerned persons and institutions abroad should know the stage of the constitution making/building process in The Gambia. The Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia (Promulgation) Bill 2024 is already in the hands of lawmakers waiting for a debate on the principles of the Bill and a vote either to reject or support the principles behind the introduction of the bill.
The National Assembly members are supposed to put national interest upfront in giving their views on the principles and casting their votes on the second reading. Hence those who wish to add value to the process should be sharing views with the National Assembly members before the scheduled date for the second reading.
Those who wish to comment on this subject matter should know what type of issues are to be raised during the second reading and what would be the outcome if the National Assembly members were to vote in favour or against the principles advanced in introducing the bill for the promulgation of a new constitution.
