Latest news from Football House

Former Women’s League Champions Red Scorpions FC have been awarded Three points and two goals after theirlatest-news-from-football-house opponents failed to turn up for the schedule match last week.

This decision was reached at the GFF Organizing Committee meeting held on Tuesday where other league matters have been deliberated and actions taken.

According to the GFF Organizing Committee, the awarding of points to Red Scorpions is largely due to the following:

  1. Late arrival of the team at 3pm.
  2. The team appeared with a Red Jersey thus causing colour clash.
  3. The search for an alternative jersey color took the team nearly an hour to avoid color clash.

This development therefore means that Red Scorpions FC have three points without kicking a ball. Their game with Jam City was called off due to a bereavement of a Jam City FC Member.

Other OC decisions include the suspension of Basirou Sanneh of Brufut United FC for one match. The Assistant Coach was found to have misconducted himself against match officials in their game with Wallidan FC played at the Independence Stadium. Basirou is thus suspended for six matches.

In a similar vein, Sultan Hassan Jallow of Young Africans FC also got suspended for gross misconduct in their match with Blue Star FC played at the Banjul Mini Stadium. Mr. Jallow was sent out from the bench for fighting with a fan outside the football field during the game. Thus he is therefore not allowed to stand behind the team bench nor is he to enter the dressing room before, during and after the games. The GFF Organizing Committee says failure to comply will lead to a severe disciplinary action in the future.

On matters relating to Interior FC, the OC also expressed grave concern over the behavior of one Sheriff Bah a fan and Police Officer with the Interior FC for using abusive language against match officials. Mr Bah was reported to have followed the match officials with insults and thus was been warned strictly to desist from such actions or would face penalties in the future.

The GFF Organizing Committee sits on league matters once in a week chaired by the President Lamin Kabba Bajo.
