LANG DIBBA’S FAMILY SOLICITS NEW GOV’T INTERVENTION

Abdoulai G. Dibba

The Family of Lang Dibba, who was convicted together with Yankuba Camara to a mandatory 10 year jail term by the Special Criminal Court in Banjul, is appealing for the intervention of the new Government since according to them, his arrest, detention and the conviction in December 2010 was politically motivated.

The case was presided over by Justice Emmanuel Nkea who convicted them for reckless and negligent act causing the damage to Generator G3 of the Farafenni Power Station

According to the family, Lang Dibba, Yankuba Camara and Mohammed Mbowe were jointly charged with four counts of reckless and negligent act, economic crime and willful damage to property, i.e Generator G3 at the Farafenni Power Station on the 7th of June 2010, in the North Bank Region.

However, the family explained that the expulsion of Generator G3 at the Farafenni Power Station was technical which was beyond the control of the staff and secondly Lang was not present when the incident happened as he was not on duty at the time of the incident.

The family called on the new government to intervene to effect the release of Lang Dibba as he is a prisoner of conscience because his stance for truth, democracy and justice is not hidden to anyone who associates with him.
