Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Calls for Restructuring, Reforming Of OIC

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through its representative His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is attending the 15th OIC summit in Banjul, Saturday called for the restructuring and reforming of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The Kingdom said they support the full political determination and will to reform the organization so that it might rise to the appropriate position internationally as the second largest international organization. The prince also added that the OIC needs to develop its infrastructure and work hand in hand with the international community. 

He continued to speak on the Palestinean crises, saying, “the issues for the cause of Palestine remain a priority for the Islamic Ummah since inception, it reflects the voice of the Islamic Ummah in support of the brotherly people of Palestine and to ensure that they exceed to their rightful justice.”

“Till today the Israeli aggression are still ongoing and even escalated against hospitals, schools and infrastructure resulting in thousands and thousands of victims. Since the launch of the aggression, the kingdom has been collaborating with the sisterly and brotherly countries to protect the Palestinians,” he said.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud also talked about the kingdom’s effort to bring together what he called the Nationals of the Ummah to consolidate the action of the OIC in settling and resolving international, local and regional peace initiatives.

He reiterated their demand for immediate ceasefire in the Gaza strip and for the provision of safe passages as well as elevation of the ordeal of the Palestinean people. He said they also continue their efforts at all levels (local, international, regional) to reiterating the importance of consolidating action for peace in Yemen towards a comprehensive settlement. He said they also call for stability in Syria and to fight against terrorist groups and prevent the passage of drugs through its territory as well as facilitate the return of its refugees.

The Minister continued to say that they underline the importance of sovereignty of Sudan and also the right of the Libyan people to elect a government of national unity to represent Libya’s legitimacy and full unity.

He said the kingdom also reiterates the need to reestablish the unity of Somalia and its territorial sovereignty and call on the international community to work towards the establishment of peace and security of all across the world.
