KEBBA TOURAY HELD AT NIA FOR 13 DAYS

By Mustapha Jallow A businessman,  Alhaji Kebba Touray is held for 13 days at the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) detention centre in Banjul, a family source said. According to the source, Mr Touray has spent 13 days in the custody of the NIA; adding that they were allowed access to him but that the reason for  his arrest and detention is yet to be known to them. He was reported to have been sick and bed-ridden for six months prior to his arrest. He was arrested around 2pm on Saturday, 24 January, 2015 at his residence at Tobacco Road in Banjul. His NIA detention has now exceeded the 72 hours duration required by the Constitution of the Republic of the Gambia. Reports have it that in 2009, Mr. Touray was arrested and later released in the wake of the arrest of Lt. Gen. Lang Tombong Tamba, a former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), and the others.    ]]>
