JUSTICE IN TODAY’S WORLD: THE ROLE OF THE ICJ AND ICC

33

Countries outside the corridors of the US and Western Europe have hardly seen the ICC and the ICJ to be partial and dependent on the thinking and leaning of such corridors of power. A paradigm shift involving the two institutions seems to be taking place. The favourable ruling by the international court of justice filed by South Africa against Israel and the announcement by the ICC prosecutor of the decision to seek the issuing of arrest against three members of Hamas and the Israeli prime minister and war cabinet defence minister have confirmed that a new trend has emerged in the pursuit and delivery of justice worldwide.

All leaders of the world should take note that impunity will soon be very difficult to perpetrate without any exposure or isolation.

Implementation of the decisions of the two international courts will depend entirely on member states. Hence countries that truly advocate for international justice and freedom must be at the forefront in promoting the decisions of the two courts. No country should be considered to be just if they oppose or undermine the implementation of decisions of the two courts. All citizens must urge their governments to support and implement the decisions of the courts.
