Judge’s Engagement at Court Martial Delays Ex SG Sabally’s Trial

By Kebba Jeffang The criminal trial involving Momodou Sabally, the former Secretary General, Head of the Civil Service and Minister of Presidential Affairs, failed to proceed at the high court in Banjul on Monday, 9 February, 2015 due to the absence of the trial judge who was said to have been engaged at a court martial.A court official confirmed the adjournment of the matter as the trial judge, Justice Emmanuel Amadi, was away, but added that he could not confirm the next adjourned date. This case was expected to proceed with the testimony of the third prosecution witness (PW3). Mr. Sabally is facing eight charges ranging from two counts of ‘Economic Crimes’, three counts of Abuse of Office, two counts of ‘Neglect of Official Duty’ and a single count of ‘Giving False Information to a Public Officer. He however denied any wrong doing.]]>
