Italy’s Chievo snaps up Gambian starlet

Must Read

By Sulayman Bah Gambia sensation Lamin Jallow has agreed on a move to join AClamin Jallow Chievo Verona on an undisclosed sum, it is understood. Jallow who caught the eye while on show for Gambia’s U-19s transfer makes him the second Gambian player to be snapped up by Italy SerieA side after striker Ali Sowe who became the first Gambia international to have penned a deal in Italy’s top flight. Midfielder Jallow, it is understood he is currently with Chievo Verona’s youth set-up and it’s unclear whether he’ll be sent out on loan like Ali Sowe to the country’s second division to rake in the minutes and first team experience. Meanwhile, in Gambia, two clubs are reportedly feuding over the ownership of Jallow. Jallow was acquired by Bakau United and later loaned to eventual league champions Real de Banjul reportedly until end of the season. Real and Bakau United have been rowing over players causing Real to be deducted of points by the Gambia Football Federation. However, the furore between the duo has gone farther this time over the ownership of Lamin Jallow in the face of his move to Europe. Bakau Utd’s Ansumana Kinteh said: “There’s no need for dispute. It’s very clear. He’s our player we sent him on loan for one-season. We have taken it to authorities concerned –the GFF. We own the player, the rules are very clear.” Real de Banjul are yet to issue a release about the contentious saga and numerous efforts to reach the club president Willy Abraham proved vain yesterday. One of the club board members has been emailed without a reply as of press time.  ]]>
