Is UDP The Ruling Party Of The Gambia?

QUESTION OF THE DAY

Many people are confused by broadcasts which referred to the UDP as the ruling party of The Gambia. The Constitution equates government with the Executive arm comprising the President, who has the power to appoint Ministers to serve as executive power. Since President Barrow is elected under an independent ticket his Cabinet cannot be considered as that of the ruling party. Hence the government is not a UDP government.
