Is there free education in The Gambia?

The Free education policy of the government is still not fully comprehended by the public as students are sent back home for not paying one thing or the other.

According to a handout produced by the ministry, the ministry of basic and secondary education has abolished all school levies. No parent or student should pay school levies.

The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education should come up with a directive to all schools to stop any student from being sent home for financial reasons and then establish a monitoring unit for non compliance if it is indeed true that education is free and compulsory. If it is not it should state what fees are legitimate or illegitimate so that sponsors would be confident that they are putting their money in the right place.

Sponsors could no longer believe students who are still asking them for money to pay to schools. They need clarification.
