Mayoral contests take place a month after the council elections and they are likely to have effect on the mayoral/chairpersonship elections. Parties are likely to go to the drawing board to prepare for the mayoral/chairpersonship elections. Parties that do not participate in the council elections will be at a disadvantage.
Needless to say, the political landscape will change after the mayoral elections.
