QUESTION OF THE DAY

Is the removal of President Barrow’s pictures and act of vandalism or a progressive move to prevent a personality cult?

People may notice that billboards containing President Barrow’s pictures that were put up before the inauguration are being removed.

When they were put up many observers felt that the pictures symbolise the emergence of the same personality cult that was built by the ex-president. However, the billboards are now being removed. This is considered by many to be a progressive move.

People elect representatives not to make them kings but to transform them into public trustees who are the same as themselves. We hope the streets will be free from such billboards forever.

In many cases, it is political stalwarts who flatter leaders and transform them into demi-gods. Wise leaders must combat such flattery.
