On Tuesday, November 12, Inspector General of Police Seedy Mukhtar Touray welcomed the British Peace Support Team (BPST) Africa to the Police Headquarters in Banjul. The visit, coordinated by the Commissioner of International Affairs, Famara Jobarteh, marked an important step in strengthening cooperation between the two institutions.
The BPST recently concluded a two-week training program aimed at improving the investigative skills of Gambian Police Force (GPF) officers in handling sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) cases. This initiative is part of BPST’s broader mission to enhance capacity for peace operations, providing GPF officers with essential tools to address sensitive cases and support justice and the protection of vulnerable populations.
IGP Touray expressed his gratitude for BPST’s commitment, acknowledging the positive impact of these capacity-building efforts. He welcomed the potential for continued collaboration, underscoring the shared goal of advancing security and human rights protections in The Gambia.
