The Gambia’s Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has postponed the commencement of general registration of voters 2021.
In a press release issued by the commission on Monday, 4th January, 2021, it stated: “the Independent Electoral Commission hereby wishes to notify the general public that due to logistical challenges beyond its control, the General Registration of Voters exercise which was scheduled to commence on 14th January 2021 has been postponed till further notice.”
The IEC in July, 2020 released the 2021 electoral cycle scheduling the presidential election on December, 4th, 2021.
The commission also indicated that voter registration period starts on January 14th and ends on February 26th, 2021.
The commission indicated that it will announce in due course the new date for voter registration.
