How will the draft constitution become the Supreme Law?

QUESTION OF THE DAY

Foroyaa is opening up the debate on how the draft constitution is to become the supreme law of the land.

A debate did arise when the bill for the enactment of the Constitutional Review Commission was tabled for consideration by the National Assembly.

At that time, some members expressed the view that what happened on 2nd December, 2016 was not a coup that led to the suspension or abrogation of the Constitution. The change occurred under the 1997 Constitution. Hence no draft constitution could come into force without relying on the provisions of the 1997 Constitution. This is one viewpoint. Foroyaa will test the wave to see whether there is any contrary viewpoint.
