HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE UNDER DETENTION WITHOUT TRIAL?

84

QUESTION OF THE DAY

At least a dozen people are currently in detention without trial in gross violation of section 19 of the Constitution. The Barrow administration has promised that detention without trial shall be a thing of the past. Unfortunately, it is becoming a common practice within the military.

All citizens are equal before the law of the land. That is why no one, civilian or military, should be detained without trial for more than 72 hours.

We are calling on the President of the Republic to look into the reasons why the Constitution is being violated without any sign of change from such unconstitutional behaviour.
