In a heartfelt ceremony held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, National Assembly Member for Serrekunda Constituency, Hon. Musa Cham, generously donated two motor-tricycles along with football gear to Bartez and London Corner Wards. This initiative was made possible through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), originally established by his predecessor, and designed to address the pressing needs of constituents.

The presentation took place at the Constituency Ward Development Office in Serrekunda, where community members gathered to celebrate the donation, which aims to empower local residents. Lamin Fadera, representing the Serrekunda “Marsseh Ngelew” Ward, expressed gratitude for the motor-tricycles, highlighting their potential impact on the community. “These tricycles will be invaluable for maintaining our roads,” he explained. “They can transport materials like sand and stones to fill the numerous potholes plaguing our streets. Furthermore, they provide an opportunity for income generation, enabling us to fund community development projects without straining our financial resources.”

Hon. Musa Cham emphasized that the motor-tricycles are intended to inspire community-driven initiatives, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in addressing local challenges. “This support, valued at D500,000.00, encapsulates the spirit of development,” he stated. “The goal is to decentralize power, encouraging communities to take charge of their own activities and raise funds at the ward level.”

Reflecting on the broader mission of the donation, Hon. Cham noted that this initiative aligns with the CDF’s vision. The funds allocated allow the community to not only strengthen their infrastructure but also to invest in youth engagement through sports. In addition to the motor-tricycles, the donated football gear comprises nine sets of jerseys and two footballs. Each ward will receive a set of jerseys, and Serre Kunda United, a local team currently competing in the Second Division of Gambian football, will also benefit from the donation.

“This initiative is about more than just materials; it’s about fostering unity, encouraging active participation in local governance, and providing our youth with the tools they need to thrive,” Hon. Cham added. As he concluded his remarks, the assembly echoed with applause, reflecting a community united in gratitude and determination to make their ward a better place for all.
