HAVE THOSE WHOSE PROPERTIES WERE DEMOLISHED UNDER THE OIC ROAD CONSTRUCTION BEEN COMPENSATED?

109

The Constitution has affirmed that no property should be taken over for public use without fair compensation. It is therefore important for the state to assess the properties that it aims to demolish to make provision for the building of public facilities, including roads and write to their owners to indicate the type of compensation they are entitled to before engaging in the construction project.

Foroyaa will try to find out whether a desk officer is provided who people with grievances could approach for clarification on any demolition exercise or compensation regime. Those affected should also seek clarification on their rights and accordingly pursue them.
