QUESTION OF THE DAY
HAS THE PROCLAMATION OF THE PRESIDENT ON THE FIRST SESSION OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY BEEN PUBLISHED?
Section 97 of the Constitution requires the president to indicate the place of the first session of the National Assembly after a national assembly election by proclamation. But for this to have the force of law it should be published in the Gambia Gazette. Our enquiry yesterday from the printer of The Gambia Gazette is that it has not yet been published.
To insist in maintaining a position after erring tantamount to impunity. What Gambians united and fought for was not merely to remove Yahya Jammeh from power but to fight impunity. The executive should take note.
