Those expelled have never taken up the challenge of contesting as Independent candidates. Hence they have never made the attempt to test their own popularity. The latest victim is the National Assembly member for Lower Saloum, who was expelled from the party even though he was helping the image of the party by showing a tendency to speak his mind. Now the APRC has lost the seat which it had secured since 1997. Now its leadership would think twice before expelling a member. The people of Lower Saloum have set the pace.
