Question of The Day
The APRC has protested against purported frustration of their right to freely express themselves and has received solidarity from the Gambia Democratic Congress. What is not evident is whether they have filed a complaint with the Inter Party Committee (IPC) which was launched recently. The IPC is a Committee established by all registered political parties in The Gambia, to resolve disputes between political parties and the protection of the right of every party to operate freely, which right includes respect for freedom of speech.
The IPC must be put to test by political parties by making use of it in order to strengthen democracy and the peace and stability of the country. Otherwise, it will turn out to be a white elephant whilst the political parties’ tirade insults outside the structure and face other difficulties on their own which can lead to unwarranted situations.
