The former mayor of Linguère and presidential candidate has officially announced the withdrawal of his candidacy for the presidential election next Sunday, March 24, 2024.
Habib Sy made this pronouncement Thursday as he welcomed Bassirou Diomaye Faye’s caravan in his stronghold. Sy has endorsed Diomaye Faye’s candidature for the presidential vote.
His candidacy, validated by the constitutional council, was supported by the ex-Pastef member as part of its strategy of multiple candidacies for the presidential election.
Like Cheikh Tidiane Dièye who withdrew his candidacy to support the leader of the Project, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, Sy followed suit. Consequently, seventeenth (17) candidates are in the race after the withdrawal of the pastef affiliated candidates and Rose Wardini.
