In a major boost to the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), His Excellency President Adama Barrow, Commander-in-Chief of The Gambia National Armed Forces, donated five buses and five tractors at a ceremony held at State House on April 2, 2025.
In his address to the gathering, President Barrow emphasized his government’s commitment to strengthening The Gambia Armed Forces and other security services by providing them with the necessary resources to enhance their efficiency and well-being. He stated that the buses will improve personnel transportation, while the tractors will support GAF’s agricultural initiative in line with the national food security agenda.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Lt Gen Mamat O.A. Cham, expressed gratitude for the donation, highlighting that it will revitalize GAF’s transport system and reinforce its farming efforts. He also acknowledged former Chiefs of Defence Staff, Lt Gen Masanneh Kinteh and Lt Gen Yakuba Drammeh, for their visionary leadership in launching the GAF Agricultural Drive.
The event concluded with the official handover of keys and an inspection of the vehicles by President Barrow and the GAF High Command.
