The Gambia Transport Service Company on Sunday 2nd April, 2017, commissioned the new Banjul- Bissau express service at a colourful ceremony held at its headquarters in Kanifing. The fare for the 42 seater bus from Banjul to Bissau is D500.00 or 6000.00 francs CFA. This is the GTSC’s second service launched as part of a regional expansion strategy, the first being the Banjul-Conakry service, which has been very successful.

Mr. Habib Drammeh General Manager speaking at the inauguration of Banjul-Bissau services revealed that apart from these new services management is planning to extend the same services to Dakar in Senegal, Koundara in Guinea Conakry and Bamako in Mali.

This express service to Bissau is direct and will not drop nor pick any passengers on the way. He said this service comes as a result of a popular demand for it. He further said they have realised that people make a lot of stops on the way because there is no direct bus service to Guinea Bissau. “Now that will be history,” he boasted.

The 42 seater buses are all fully air conditioned and have the in-journey entertainment and internet facility. Mr. Drammeh, further added that they are pioneering a new way of travelling for ECOWAS citizens, which he believes will bring the company the required revenue that would help them sustain the company in future.

Mr. Muhammad Manjang, the chairman of the GTSC board thanked management, noting that this is his first interaction with the company. He described GTSC Bissau express service as timely as it will improve travelling condition, save time and even money. He said expansion of this nature is good for the company as it will raise the revenue level of the company.
