By Sulayman Bah A group of football stakeholders calling for the return of the Gambia Football Federation executive, Foroyaa Sport can reveal have now been constituted. The confirmation of the membership follows a day after a letter (part of it published in our Monday edition) was pieced to FIFA urging the world football governing body to rescind its decision on the current GFF on Sunday. The Sepp Blatter leadership last Thursday effectively putting to use its exceptional powers, dissolved the Gambian federation whom it said lacked stakeholders’ trust replacing it with a five-member normalizing committee. The move ignited response from some league clubs, regional and aligned associations, who described the decision to change the current setup a recipe for disaster for Gambian football while throwing their weight behind Kebbeh’s camp. The group which refers itself as stakeholders and claims to have the backing of eleven league clubs in the first and second divisions, four aligned and five football associations from regions of the country, expressed disappointment over how the GFF executive is booted out. But whether the three-page protest dossier, copied to relevant sporting entities including CAF, National Sports Council and even the NIA DG, can sway FIFA to reconsider its decision is another matter. Meanwhile, the NC membership tasked with holding elections for the new GFF board in September is yet to be named or unveiled. It is also unclear, as witnessed during the reign of the first normalizing committee, whether or not a new draft constitution will be put in place –as a mark of a fresh start – to replace the current constitution endorsed last year by a congress of football delegates. Below is the list of clubs who endorsed the letter sent to FIFA. First division clubs: Brikama United, Samger, Steve Biko, Bakau United and Gamtel (one vote each. 5-out 12 endorsed). Second division: Tallinding United, Bombada, KGI, Lamin United, Blue Stars and Serrekunda United endorsed it (six out of ten endorsed it). Aligned association: School football association, football coaches’ association, women’s football association and football referees’ association endorsed it (four out of four endorsed). Regional football Associations: North Bank regional football association Central river regional football association]]>
