Two staff of the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) recently joined colleagues from across West Africa in Lagos for a high-level training on future-focused workplace strategies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), emotional intelligence, and talent management in the digital age.

The five-day course, themed “Shaping Tomorrow’s Workplace: Harnessing AI, Emotional Intelligence, and Organizational Talent Strategy,” ran from July 7 to 11, 2025, at the Central Bank of Nigeria Learning Centre. It was organized by the West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM) and drew participants from regional institutions including the Bank of Ghana, Liberia Maritime Authority, Ghana Securities and Exchange Commission, Ministry of Finance, and Bank of Sierra Leone.

Dr. Seedy Drammeh, Deputy Director of Human Resources at GRA, served as the Governor of the course, leading delegates from The Gambia, Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. The training focused on the changing nature of work, the integration of AI into human systems, and emotional intelligence as a key leadership competency.

Key thematic discussions included the ethical use of AI, talent development strategies, and how emotional intelligence can be integrated into organizational transformation efforts.

According to a joint communiqué presented by Dr. Drammeh on behalf of the course participants, the group recommended the organization of a follow-up intermediate course to further deepen understanding of these rapidly evolving areas.

Dr. Drammeh expressed gratitude to the Commissioner General of GRA and the authority’s management for their nomination and continued support in building institutional capacity.
