GPU prepares for World Press Freedom Day

The Gambia Press Union will be conducting three activities to mark World Press Freedom Day which is commemorated worldwide on May 3 each year.

On that fateful day the GPU will mobilise and lead a peaceful procession from the Traffic Lights to the Ministry of Information and Communication Infrastructure where it will present a petition to the Minister. The procession will commence at 9am.

On the same day GPU will hold a symposium at the Faculty of Law Hall, MDI Road from 12.30 to 3pm. The theme of the symposium is critical minds from critical times: Media’s role in advancing peaceful, just and inclusive societies.

The second National Journalism Award Information will take place on Friday May 5th at the Djembe Hotel, Duplex Strip as part of the Gambia Press Union’s annual commemoration of World Press Freedom Day.
