The National Food Security and Marketing Corporation has concluded cash payments to farmers who previously delivered their groundnuts to official seccos in the North Bank Region (NBR).

The payments resumed in the Barra cycle, covering Lower and Upper Niumi and the Jokadu District. Seven seccos were involved, and over 110 farmers were paid on Thursday, according to reconciliations by the Federation of Agricultural Cooperative Societies (FACs).

A total of about D10.8 million was paid to 18 seccos across the region, covering over 163 farmers—approximately 43 from the Kerewan cycle and around 118 from the Barra cycle.

However, some farmers were not paid because their deliveries were allegedly not submitted to FACs by the CPMS for reconciliation. CPMS clerks or managers were asked to write letters with the unpaid receipts attached for consideration at the management level.

The payment team is continuing its operations in the Central River Region (CRR).
