By Muhammad Bah in Kanifing Municipality – 6pm, 30 December, 2014 The offices of the government of the Gambia in the Kanifing Municipality were yesterday December 30th shutdown consequent to Banjul gunfire. When this reporter visited the government offices alongside the Kairaba Avenue and the Senegambia highway, he found out that both the Ministerial buildings and parastatals were not operational. There were limited movements of cars and people within the Kanifing Municipality as well, but few taxis were plying the roads while most of the commercial vehicles were absent on the Brikama Highway and Kairaba Avenue. Meanwhile, the state media has reported that contrary to rumours calm has prevailed and went on to assure the entire population to remain calm and said everything is normal. Reports from Basse, the capital of Upper River Region, say that Banks, shops and other businesses were closed down. ]]>
