The possibility of Gambian fans watching live battle between Senegalese wrestlers Ama Balde and Gouye-Gui 
now depends on the approval of the Gambia government, it has emerged.
Ama Balde and Gouye –Gui are due to battle in a traditional wrestling combat mixed with fist fighting, a kind of sport dubbed Borreh Dorr that was banned by The Gambia government.
And aware of the indefinite suspension placed on Borreh Dorr, lobbyists for the combat to be held in Gambia have taken a step to persuade concerned authorities to rescind the ban or at least allow the proposed big battles, being planned next month in December, to go ahead.
Gambia Radio and Television Services, one of an array of promoters backing the fight, Foroyaa Sport understands have written to Gambia Wrestling Association seeking the go-ahead to hold the fight.
In a meeting held Wednesday afternoon, the GWA are said to have notified the event promoters of the suspension of Borreh Dorr suggesting for them to write to government instead.
Speaking to Foroyaa Sport an official at the GWA said: ‘We told them of the ban on Borreh Dorr and anything that could be done to bring it back, we accept it. So they now have to take up the issue with concerned authorities to see how they can talk to them to help lift the ban’
The contest is slated for December 27th, four days before turn of the year at the 30,000 capacity-seater Independence Stadium.
Ama Balde squares Gouye Gui in finals of what initially was a four-man wrestling competition.
On sanctioned date of the duel, the Pikine-based wrestler who’d been on a run of victories, will seek revenge on Gouye Gui whom he lost to three years ago.
Ama is yet to taste defeat in the mini-tournament making it two wins in two outings.
On night of the proposed date, Tapha Tine and Zoss will cross daggers for the second best position.
Tapha Tine started on a high turning Gouye Gui to a punching bag only to lose to Ama Balde on his second clash. The man from Club Baol is favoured to secure the bragging rights by pundits against a tricky character Zoss.
The four Senegalese wrestlers are expected to touch down in Gambia December 1st.
