Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, Minister of Information, said on Wednesday that Gambian citizens who pay monies to recruitment agents for Spain, UEA, and Saudi Arabia labour recruitment should go get their monies back.
‘The government has no say in it because the government did not ask anyone to pay them,’ he said.
He made this statement during a press conference at Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara Conference Centre.
He said the government has clearly informed the citizens not to pay any money to any recruitment agencies. He reiterated that the recruitment process is free and the government through the Department of Labour will handle the labour recruitment for Spain.
‘The government has made it clear that they will handle the recruitment for Spain,’ he stressed.
He further added that ‘those who pay money to the agents is between them and the agents’ and anyone who pays them should go get their money. He suggested that they have the option to report to the police as well.
He said engaging the police is the only way perhaps a government can be involved in the issues.
