GNOC Admin Officer urges Volleyball Association to conduct regular Assessment

GNOC Admin Officer Olympic Committee (GNOC), Mohammed Janneh has urged the Gambia Volleyball Association to conduct regular assessment programme to evaluate the impact of the numerous training courses held for its members.Mr. Janneh made this remark on Thursday March 12, 2015 while addressing 20 Volleyball coaches at the opening ceremony of a weeklong level one training course organised by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) in collaboration with The Gambia Volleyball Association. “In the past many such trainings were organised but the whereabouts of most of the participants were unknown after the course, being the case it is paramount for the Association to conduct regular assessment to identify the problems and map out solutions for the development of the game” Mr Janneh advised the Association. He added that recently the Beach Volleyball teams, in both male and female, have crossed the first huddles in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games qualifiers which are top in GNOC development strategies. Mr. Janneh seized the opportunity to applaud the Gambia Volleyball Association for shaping on the importance of capacity building which is key to Sports development. For his part the President of Gambia Volleyball Association, Yunusa Barry said capacity building is a top priority in their development plan. He challenged the participants to use the golden opportunity offered to them to push Gambian Volleyball to another level. “Let’s explore this training positively for the interest of the game” he told the participants. The executive Secretary of National Sports Council (NSC) Marcel Mendy told the participants that this kind of opportunity comes only once and needs to be taken seriously. He expressed optimism that with the crop of coaches available, the future of Volleyball in the Gambia is bright.]]>
