By Sulayman Bah The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) is set to rake in an estimated amountGFF TO GET 71.2M of D71.2 million in income in 2015. This huge amount was revealed to football stakeholders during the football federation’s extraordinary general assembly held over the weekend at the Independence Stadium Friendship Hostel.It was captured in the report of Bakary Jammeh of GFF on the soccer body’s budget put before delegates for consideration and endorsement. In the recent past, Gambian football has been caught up in a web of administrative brouhaha, thus plunging the nation’s most dominant sport under a process of ‘Normalisation’. However, the sport is set to be boosted after the federation announced this estimated income from various partners in 2015. According to Jammeh, a D10m is expected from FIFA’s financial Assistance Programme –money given to affiliate associations – representing thirteen percent of the FF’s income, D18.4 being support from government and D12m from Confederation of African Football on TV rights of Gambian national team’s participation in qualifiers. On the aspect of cost, he said the figure stands at D3.5m in 2014 and is projected to increase to D3.9m in the coming year. He revealed that D4.5 million is laid out for Gambian clubs CAF competitions and D14m estimated for the national teams’ participations in championships. Elucidating further, Jammeh, who also doubles as a member of the Real De Banjul’s board, revealed plans to introduce an Under 15 league in the school system. The programme ended with the inclusion of Sosseh Colley as an ordinary member of the federation board and the dishing out of money to various regions for the preparation of their respective leagues.]]>
