By Sulayman Bah Banjul United over the weekend defeated Wallidan to claim victory in the Banjul United 2 clash between the two capital-based outfits. Blue Boys Wallidan was left weeping by Banjul United in an intriguing fixture which led to their 2-1 defeat. Wallidan are in the top flight after securing promotion from the second tier last season and hoped to mark their return to the first division to re-stamp their authority in the championship. But such a plan has been stabbed on the back with their lost. However, a bounce back remains possible when they travel to Serrekunda West to face long-time rivals Bakau United. Down in Serekunda, Bombada picked all points against Serrekunda United courtesy of a lone goal. In Brikama, champions Real de Banjul were forced to a one-all draw by the Khaki Boys Armed Forces at the Box Bar mini-stadium. Gambia Ports Authority and Bakau United also settled for a similar score on Sunday in Brikama. Hawks’ match with Interior was put off as a result of lack of a referee. Earlier on Saturday, Gamtel came from behind to manage a 1-1 affair with West Coast Region-based Brikama United at the SK East. Captain Ebou Kanteh clattered home a free-kick past Gamtel’s Musa Camara to the back of the net for Sateba Boys’ opening goal, following a nil-nil showdown in the first-half. But Sulayman Kuyateh’s men failed to fend off a pressing Gamtel who wriggled out an equalising goal from a kamikaze Brikama defending.    ]]>
